Ancient words often had several different meanings. The word "moda" (fashion) derives from the Latin "modus" which means "maniera" (manner), "norma" (norm), "regola" (rule), "tempo" (time), "ritmo" (rhythm). The word "abitudine" (habit) derives from the Latin "habitus" which later in Italian became "abito" (dress).

Il grande stilista Valentino Garavani è protagonista del film documentario Valentino: l'ultimo imperatore.
È famosa la sua frase: "amo la bellezza, non è colpa mia..." E la moda per Valentino è veramente bellezza.
Si racconta che una volta all'Opera, il giovane Valentino vide nel pubblico un'anziana signora vestita di rosso e rimase estremamente colpito. Fra tutte le donne in sala, lei era quella che risaltava di più. Da quel momento nacque il famoso colore "rosso Valentino", con una tonalità che pare sia stata studiata appositamente per stare bene sia alle donne more che alle donne bionde.
Ma è famoso anche il suo amore per il bianco totale (White collection del 1968), per il beige e per il nero.
A chi gli ha chiesto "cosa vogliono le donne?" ha risposto "vogliono essere belle."
Durante tre giorni di festa, il 6-8 luglio 2007, a Roma, è stata organizzata la famosa sfilata celebrativa dei 45 anni di lavoro della maison Valentino, il quale si è poi ritirato dal suo lavoro di creatore di alta moda. |
The great fashion designer Valentino Garavani is the protagonist of the documentary film Valentino: the last emperor.
