Many students still have problems with the use of Italian verbs. We understand that verb conjugations may not be easy. However, they are very important. In order to learn the use of verbs, study the correct endings and keep on practicing with the exercises. |

ATTENZIONE: gli studenti dei paesi anglofoni hanno la tendenza ad usare la forma "ing" (I'm eating) invece del presente dei verbi (io mangio = I eat).
Qui studiamo il presente indicativo dei verbi perché in italiano è usato comunemente e perché a livello elementare, per descrivere e comunicare con frasi brevi e semplici, è la forma più utile. Tradurre in italiano la forma "ing" inglese richiede una costruzione particolare (stare + gerundio) che introduciamo a livello intermedio. A questo livello suggeriamo di usare solo il presente indicativo così gli studenti non si confondono con troppe coniugazioni (ad esempio, usa "mangio" piuttosto che "sto mangiando"). |
IMPORTANT: students from English-speaking countries have a tendency to use the 'ing' form (I'm eating) instead of the present tense of verbs (io mangio = I eat).
Here we study the present indicative of verbs because it is commonly used in Italian, and because at elementary level - in order to describe and communicate with short and simple sentences - it is the most useful tense. Translating in Italian the English 'ing' form requires a particular construction (stare + gerundio) that we introduce in the intermediate level. At this level we suggest using only the present indicative so students do not get confused with too many verb conjugations (e.g. use "mangio"= 'I eat' instead of "sto mangiando"='I'm eating'). |
