The Decameron by Boccaccio

Buon ascolto!

Giovanni Boccaccio was repeatedly accused of immorality for writing the Decameron (between 1348 and 1353).

Albeit inconvenient, the Decameron is a book that offers us an insight into the life and humanity of those times. An authentic text, among the most important documents we have of Medieval literature.

In these days of coronavirus, a historic and famous Italian University, the Scuola Superiore Normale di Pisa, has begun the shared reading of the Decameron.

In the following videos you will find a brief introduction to the Decameron and two famous novels, Calandrino and the elitropia stone, and Federigo degli Alberighi.

Happy listening!
