Coltivi qualcosa?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The verb &#8220;vegetare&#8221; (to vegetate) is often used idiomatically for the terminally ill who can no longer move; it has a compassionate connotation. The expression &#8220;essere un vegetale&#8221; (being a vegetable) instead has a negative connotation, it is an insult, it indicates a person unable to act, someone flaccid, without vitality. <\/em><br><em>But plants are full of inner life!
