| Verb = verbs are 'action words'! The verb is the element that conveys information on what the subject does or is and what actions he/she/it accomplishes or undergoes. Example: "guardare" (to watch). "Io guardo" = I watch. "Suonare, mangiare, bere, ecc..." (to play, to eat, to drink, etc...) are all verbs. In Italian, verbs are very important because from the verb conjugation you can immediately identify the subject of a sentence. For this reason, you need to study verb conjugations and know them well. Once you know the subject and the verb, it is easier to find the object, possible adjectives etc. and quickly understand the meaning of a sentence. |
