The Role of Italian Language Teaching in Present Society

Camogli

As a first exercise, close your eyes
and imagine your are in Camogli, Italy,
sitting in front of the harbor and
eating "focaccia".

Buongiorno,

grazie per la tua partecipazione!

I am really grateful for the opportunity to share with you a vision about the meaning of teaching Italian and the role of the Italian language and culture in present society.

My feeling is that the Italian language and culture can bring a pause into our life. They are an opportunity to slow down, reflect, and experience our "humanity".

And whenever we involve humanity in our life, we are talking about quality of life.
And I believe this human touch is part of the famous "Italian quality of life".

Maura Garau - Founder of www.cyberitalian.com, Educator, Author, Consultant

Ms. Garau likes to define herself a "Renaissance woman", as she is an eclectic person, very concerned about the development of the potential and talent that each human being has.

Her interests range from languages and communication to history, philosophy, art, and more. She has been working in the fields of communication and teaching since 1985.

During her university years and study of "Foreign Languages and Literature" she realized that "knowing a subject very well" is not enough to teach it. Therefore she also studied, practiced and researched in the field of human development in order to give a true meaning to the word "educare" (to educate, to teach; from the Latin "ex-ducere", to bring out). The best educational experience is the one that allows each student to express (bring out) the best of him/herself.
