“… una volta ero a pranzo in una trattoria popolare a Roma con Roberto. C’erano lunghi tavoli dove ci si sedeva con altra gente. Ci siamo seduti con alcune persone in tuta blu, lavoravano nella strada là fuori, e Roberto gli parla, e iniziano a discutere di Dante e Ariosto e dei poeti italiani del ventesimo secolo…”
Ora, non tutte le persone in Italia parlano di poesia, soprattutto durante la pesante crisi economica e politica che stiamo vivendo in questi giorni. Tuttavia, se c’è l’opportunità, la maggior parte di italiani è sempre disponibile a parlare di poesia, vita, amore e sogni. Questa è la cosa meravigliosa e la tragedia dell’Italia.
Questo è il motivo per cui amiamo l’Italia.

“…once I was in a working-class restaurant in Rome with Roberto at lunchtime. They had long tables where you sit with other people. We sat down with these people in their blue overalls, they were working in the street outside, and Roberto’s talking to them, and they started talking about Dante and Ariosto and twentieth-century Italian poets…”
Now, not everyone in Italy talks about poetry, especially during the heavy economic and political crisis we are living these days. However, if the opportunity arises, most Italian are always willing to talk about poetry, life, love, dreams. This is the wonderful thing and the tragedy of Italy.
That’s why we love Italy.
