Raffaello e l’armonia (Raphael and harmony)

July 23rd, 2010 Maura 1 comment

Le “concordanze” sono uno dei meccanismi che creano la musicalità della lingua italiana. Con le concordanze (di femminile, maschile, singolare, plurale, verbi, ecc… mamma mia!) la lingua italiana crea un’armonia speciale e “suona come una canzone”.
Fai troppa confusione con le concordanze? Non preoccuparti! Si impara piano piano attraverso la pratica.
Adesso rivedi i dipinti di Raffaello, il “maestro dell’armonia”…

Agreements are one of the mechanisms that create the ‘music of Italian language’. With agreements (of feminine, masculine, singular, plural, verbs, etc… “mamma mia!”) the Italian language creates a special harmony, and it ’sounds like a song’.
Are agreements too confusing? Don’t worry! We learn little by little, through practice.
Right now, review the paintings of Raphael, the ‘master of harmony’…

Caravaggiomania!

Il celebre pittore Caravaggio è la star italiana dell’anno 2010.
“Caravaggio, che in qualche modo trovava il tempo di dipingere quando non si azzuffava con qualcuno, non inseguiva donne (e uomini), non uccideva avversari di pallacorda, non scappava dai sicari della polizia…, ha scalzato Michelangelo dal suo piedistallo”.

Famous painter Caravaggio is the Italian star of the year 2010.
“Caravaggio, who somehow found time to paint when he wasn’t brawling, chasing women (and men), murdering a tennis opponent, fleeing police assassins… has bumped Michelangelo from his perch”.

The Vitruvian man and balance

August 20th, 2009 Maura No comments

Toward the end of the Middle Ages, between 1300 and 1400, the foundations of Humanism and the Italian Renaissance were being laid.

Humanism gave prominence to the human being, to the expression of personal talent, to freedom and to the relationship between man and the universe. It flowed spontaneously into the Renaissance, a period of great human and artistic development.

If you observe the Vitruvian Man by Leonardo da Vinci you certainly see the relationship between geometry and the human body. However, if you observe more carefully you can discover other interesting aspects (Leonardo often included hidden meanings and messages in his work). To practice Italian this week I invite you to read.
