Il pronome CI: ce la fai? (Pronoun CI: can you make it?)

Il piccolo pronome CI è un po' biricchino perché può essere usato in modi diversi creando molta confusione agli studenti. Può significare: Noi (pronome diretto). Esempio: I bambini ci guardano. A noi (pronome indiretto). Esempio: Ci piace il gelato. Telefonaci! "Lì, là, qui, qua" o il nome di una città, di una nazione o di un luogo menzionato in precedenza. Esempio: Lei va al cinema, ma io non ci vado. Un concetto precedente o una situazione menzionata prima, implicando verbi seguiti da "a" oppure "di" o "su" o "con". Esempio: Non preoccuparti di fare la spesa, ci penso io. Pensi ancora alla tua ex-fidanzata? Si, ci penso sempre [a lei]. Posso contarci [su lei] come amica, ma non posso uscirci [con lei]. Un verbo riflessivo che viene usato in maniera impersonale. Esempio: Per uscire ci si veste. Un verbo pronominale. Esempio: Farcela (fare + ci + la) = avere successo o riuscire a fare una cosa. Ce* l'ho fatta! Ci sono riuscito! Un rinforzo emozionale. Esempio: Io al cinema ci vado domani (invece che "Io al cinema vado domani." *Quando "ci" si unisce a "lo, la, li, le, ne" diventa "ce". Il pronome "ci" ti sembra difficile? Non preoccuparti! Con la pratica diventerà un piccolo amico familiare. Ora completa l'esercizio seguente e ricordati che i pronomi sono molto usati nella lingua italiana perché rendono la lingua "viva" permettendo di esprimere opinioni ed emozioni in modo più diretto ed efficace. Pratica il pronome "ci" anche se ti sembra complicato. Provaci!	The little pronoun CI is a bit naughty because it can be used in different ways creating much confusion for students. It can mean: Noi = Us (direct pronoun). Example: I bambini ci guardano. = Children are watching us. To us (indirect pronoun). Example: Ci piace il gelato. Telefonaci! = We like ice cream. Phone us. "There, there, here, here" or the name of a previously mentioned city, country or place. Example: Lei va al cinema, ma io non ci vado. = She goes to the movies, but I don't go [there]. A previous concept or situation mentioned before, implying verbs followed by "a" or "di" or "su" or "con." Example: Non preoccuparti di fare la spesa, ci penso io. = Don't worry about grocery shopping, I'll take care of it. Pensi ancora alla tua ex-fidanzata? Si, ci penso sempre [a lei]. Posso contarci [su lei] come amica, ma non posso uscirci [con lei]. = Do you still think about your ex-girlfriend? Yes, I always think about her. I can count on her as a friend, but I can't go out with her. A reflexive verb that is used impersonally. Example: Per uscire ci si veste. = To go out people get dressed. A pronominal verb. Example: Farcela (fare + ci + la) = to succeed. Ce l'ho fatta! Ci sono riuscito!* = I did it! I succeeded! An emotional reinforcement. Example: Io al cinema ci vado domani (instead of "Io al cinema vado domani.") *When "ci" is combined with "lo, la, li, le, ne" it becomes "ce." Does the pronoun "ci" seem difficult to you? Don't worry! With practice it will become a familiar little friend. Now complete the following exercise and remember that pronouns are widely used in the Italian language because they make the language "come alive" allowing you to express opinions and emotions more directly and effectively.
